OK... just finished doing a rebuild of a friend's Dell Win XP notebook. To speed the next inevitable rebuild (the things ya do for good imported beer) I want to try and burn an image of the system as it is now.

Can anyone recommend some good freeware that would allow me to do this?

Try Macrium Reflect - i don't have experience with it, but it's free, and there's plenty of reviews around.

I've been seeing WD offer a copy of truimage through their site. I never used it, so I'm uncertain as to the capacity of it.

Outside of that, I've getting more turned onto a clonezilla.

As discussed in your other thread:

Best way to back up

Acronis really is a great painless backup program. Well worth the money. Heck, after you make your 1st "full system image" you can save that to an external/removable hard drive and then make another on your data drive to keep up incrementally or now it will even do continuous backups. Currently only $40. If you are trying to keep it safe from your friend load it make your backup image. Then unload it and keep it for yourself. That program really will save you some grief one day.
