That's my main question, can Live Mesh and Dropbox co-exist? More specifically, can they both be monitoring the same folder(s) without ill effect?
Here's the background info for everyone screaming "Why in the hell would you want to do that??!!"
Have three portable machines that I need to keep certain files up to date. All were running Windows 7. Switched one over to Ubuntu 10.04 full-time. Thinking of dual-booting another. Dropbox has linux and windows clients. Live Mesh obviously does not. I want to keep the directories how they are under windows, Dropbox insists that everything goes under a Dropbox folder (yes, I know, there's workarounds). Also like the remote desktop capability of Live Mesh (i.e. I can connect to any of my computers, no matter where they are at, as long as they are online).
I figure I can setup a virtual machine running Windows. I'll setup Dropbox first, then point Live Mesh to the appropriate folders to sync. If it works correctly, then anything I update on a linux machine would be pushed via dropbox to the virtual machine, which will then push the changes out to Live Mesh (and vice-versa).
I think it would work, but I can foresee some potential issues. If anyone has tried it before, let me know!
