I know this is a little outdated, but I thought it was worth mentioning. I bought an Alienware laptop in 2003 for about $900. Now I know everything gets more and more expensive as time goes on, but earlier this month I customized an Alienware m15 and it was priced at around $1200. Then I go again earlier this week, and the SAME m15 is now $1550. Did I just miss something? If anyone could enlighten me that would be wonderful.

Dell has owned Alienware for well over three years now. This isn't news to many who frequent these forums or read the mag.

As far as the pricing goes, there could have been a sale going earlier this month and now, those prices are gone. Keep your money in your pocket though and do some research. Many aren't happy with their Alienware laptops. Look back over the MPC archives and see if anything else strikes your fancy. Or just wait for another Alienware sale.

What are you looking for in a laptop?

I could offer some recommendations.

Im aware that Dell acquired Alienware some 3 odd years ago. But the fact that the price can fluctuate by 300 dollars in a matter of weeks in insane. And no, there was no sale at the time.

Didn't Alienware recently refresh the M15 line with new video cards and processors? That could explain the price jump.

EDIT: Just checked and looks like the M15s now have Core i7s and GTX260Ms. Before I think they had dual-core processors and 9800s. I'm not sure when they changed the configs though.

Welcome to the forums! This would be a good topic for you to make your own thread about in The Dog Pound.

One of the forum rules is to not revive threads older than 30 days. However, I think your comments here are pretty relevant to the over all topic. I also think a thread by you in that Dog Pound sub-forum would be well placed.

Finally, before the grammar and spelling Nazi's get a hold of you, try to take your time while posting. Use FireFox if you can. It has an automatic spell checker. Your post is pretty hard to read and make sense of and using FireFox's built in spell check would help that to a large degree. I don't what I would do without it.
