Is there a quick way to reset your blackberry (I have a hard plastic case and I don't want to yank that off to pull the battery every time if I don't have to). How often do you have to reset your's? My Palm required resetting a couple times a week.

Any other tips you have found?

Yeah, it was the first Palm with Windows Mobile. They definitely were not ready to move to it I don't think.

My other Windows Mobile phone was rock solid.

Does anybody know how to temporarily disable email? I did some googling and one of the suggestions was to delete the service books from the device. All that did was prevent me from replying to email it was still sent to my BB. I would like to be able to prevent the email from being sent (and I don't want to delete the account every day and recreate it either).

I would be "content" with something that would automatically mark emails as read that I could turn on and off. Then I would just have a profile that didn't notify me about email. That way when I am at the computer I am not getting email notifications (or when I don't want to get email).

BTW, this is for BIS and not BES. I have my personal email as well as another email address for some private contract stuff that I do.

in regards to your first post i've had my blackberry for 14 months and have never had to reset it.... if you are needing to do this regularly i'd think there was something wrong with it.... my employer also has had one for even longer and has never reset his either.... :?

Quick question: Why do you need to reset your BlackBerry? Unless something is specifically wrong with it, there should be no need to. As far as tips go, I have my BlackBerry to delete e-mails, text history, call logs etc. after a certain amount of days. This considerably makes my BlackBerry more "snappy" feeling and avoids the dreaded BB crawl.

all blackberries need to be rebooted periodically. crap builds up in the memory over time all the black berries have memory leaks.
. On the non touch screen black berries you can hold down the left ALT, the right captital A button and hit delete and it will reboot. not sure about the storm but im sure it has something.
Do you have the latest os installed on your phone. that helps.

If you can figure out how to stop the email you can always do a master reset and put it back to the factory settings.

Not an expert but i do manage 85 blackberriesd and a Blackberry enterprise server.

There's also a rule about memberating. For your reading pleasure:
Quote:
13. Don’t memberate. We have Administrators, Moderators, and special, behind-the-scenes staff here at MaximumPC Forums. Unless you fit into one of these categories, you shouldn’t be telling other members what to do on the Forums. If you see something out of line, feel free to PM a Section Moderator (listed at the top of each section), or an Administrator to handle it.

Since when does having the [PC] badge make you a mod? From what I understand, that badge is nothing more than making it to the "cool crowd" forum area (by invitation only no less).

And besides, all the mods are listed HERE, and he ain't one of them. So yeah.

Let's just say I have been authorized to memberate a little bit. If you doubt this, please PM myself, or the Mod or Admin of your choice. They will explain it to you. I'm one of those "behind-the-scenes" workers that are also mentioned in the rules.

I should also mention that having the [PC] does NOT automatically make one a mod, although most mods are [PC]. Confusing, I know, but it's been posted about before.

Duly noted. I apologize for the confusion.

Ah, that's all right. There's no list of us behind the scenes workers, so some confusion is bound to happen once in a while.
