I'm going to be getting a new laptop pretty soon.

This is what I'm planning on getting:

Can anyone recommend a good laptop bag for that 16incher?

I was thinking of going with a backpack to give me some extra room for textbooks. Also, maybe going with a 17" bag so it's not such a tight fit. And preferably not over $70.

I've been looking around myself. Wenger seems like a good brand. They're a little pricey though... How about Targus?

I've been looking for a 17" bag for a while. Something that's not all girly-fied. I've seen Targus bags at Best Buy but I can't vouch for the quality.

Go to a camping/sports store. They have heavy duty (think camping back pack material) extremely functional (think survival) bad ass bags.

Found one at Dick's Sporting Goods that looks pretty good.

Thanks for all of your help. One of my friends is actually going to give me one. He has about four lying around, so he decided to give me one. He said it has good padding around the laptop sleeve, and that it has plenty of room for text books.

I'll take free over $70 any day!

I found on the side of the road an old Epson Metal Projector case in perfect shape. I cut the foam to fit my laptop, then notched it deeper in places for the external hard drive.

Sure it's heavy, but that laptop has been to 8 different states in the back of cars, vans, and trucks with loads of DJ equipment and I don't worry about it. ;)
