so my Vista 32 bit Dell XPS 1530 laptop's track pad stopped uh...tracking...i need a mouse to do anything...any ideas how to fix the track pad.

Maybe try reinstalling the drivers for it?
I did that once when my trackpad on my Dell was actin funky and it fixed it

i reinstalled every driver ans updated the bios, seems to have done the trick. But ive owned 3 laptops from dell and set up 4 others and never seen this problem happen what could cause it?

honestly never checked before a few days ago, never really had need for it with a wireless mouse but when i did tap it and nothing happened....

Maybe you disabled it by accident? I use the Fn key shortcut to mute the soud on my lappy, and once I hit the touchpad toggle key by accident.
