My friend has a BB 8130 on Verizon that he wants to sell. Since it's CDMA and has no SIM card what would someone buying the phone have to do to set it up on a new Verizon account?

Ok, I googled it and I found out that the buyer has to put the phone's ESN number into their account information settings. I've never had a Verizon account so I don't know if that's true or not.

wouldn't the buyer need a SIM card that works with verizon?

Verizon doesn't use SIM cards. You either have to call them and give them the ESN on the phone under the battery and have them transfer it, OR you can take it into a store and have them do it there.
