Guys, I'm running Vista. There has been times when the CPU's multiplier (default at 10.0/1990) would change itself to 4.0/795 especially when I was in the middle of working on some important stuff. Even if I go into Power CP and select "High Performance", it does not always stay at 10.0. Other than buying a different chip, what else can I do to keep the multiplier at 10.0 and stay there?! I understand the risks of heating, but this is ridiculous.

I bet this often happens when your laptop isnt plugged in to power right?

If not, im stumped... but

does the laptop manufacturer have some kind of power regulating software installed?

Im pretty sure that would be what you have to tweak.

I do give it a good reason to change the multiplier to 4.0 on battery. But even if it was plugged in, which it is, multiplier can still change.

I think I do have some drivers installed for the AMD chip. I thought it would be risky to uninstall only the driver's features and maintain the chip when I am running Windows.

you can always try, but be sure to back up your data!

I dont think it will cause any problems except the fact that your laptop might run hotter at constant full speeds...
