Just got a Dell 9100 and need a good case to put it in.

Has to have a large laptop compartment. I'd like to have a bunch of other compartments for the power brick, USB mouse, system CD's, blank CD's, the floppy module, spare wiring and paperwork.

I've looked a little at the Targus and Mobile Edge backpacks. They might do the job, but I'd like to hear from some one that's used them.

I've got one from Eastern Mountain Sports that fits my beast of a notebook, however it's normally in the regular carry case that came with it.

i dont like the case that came wiht my moms dell, its too bulky. alienware has a really nice backpack. i just throw my paltop in one of the three big pockets in my L.L.Bean backpack and it works good and doesnt get hurt. just dont leave a hibernating laptop in you backpack....it dies. my friend left his iBook in his backpack and when he tried to take it out it was too hot to even touch and it never ran the same again.

Hibernating a laptop and leaving it in a bag is fine.

I suspect your friend's iBook was probably "Sleeping", which is Apple's happy touchy feeling term for Suspend mode, which you should definitely not do to a laptop prior to tossing it in a backpack.

Leaving it in a car on a hot summer day is bad too.

I have a carrying case from dell and it is bulky. It may be the same one gramaton was talking about. When everything is packed in it, it is still hard to throw over one shoulder. A backpack would be good, maybe santa will bring me one.
