The Macbook Air came out.

3,000 for half an inch shaved off the thickness of YOUR laptop!

No CD/DVD drive (those are for losers!)

No Ethernet ports (Those are for those behind in today's technology standards!)

No Firewire (PSH! who needs THAT? we have usb 2.0!)

It fits in a manilla envelope, 3 pounds or less! Guaranteed!

Bound to make your laptop self conscious of it's thickness!

Backlit keyboard for those who can't type!

Go Apple, raising the standard, lowering America's IQ!

I agree. My wife and daughter both saw this thing the other day and came home asking me if we could buy two of them.

They ACTUALLY asked if I would consider selling my bike to get them these laptops.

Evidently, the look on my face said more than what I ever needed to actually verbalize.

Ack! WHAT?!

Tell your daughter to mow some lawns (or shovel some driveways).

I gave my Dad that similar look when he talked to me about it.

Personally, I would be able to purchase a laptop with 2x the power as well as tablet functionality with the price of an air.

Agreed. Someone needs a J-O-B. And if they look sideways at your bike again, I'd administer a beating.

And yes, apple once again delivers and overpriced underperformer.

it's too late to make and effect now, sadly.

People have their entire houses wired up to Macs at this point.

The only thing we can hope for is Novell to actually advertise their Linux commercials.

What's the big deal with the MacBook Air anyway? Ok, it's thin and light. While that's cool, why did Apple make it so under powered and under useful? For those on a busy traveling schedule, I'm sure they would like to watch a movie while on an airplane or in an airport. Hmm, where do I put my DVD in?

My 6 year old laptop is more useful than that thing...

I can do a massive burnout on my bike at the end and sling melted rubber particles in Jobs face.

My bike is safely ensconced in the garage. The day after the first time they said that, they alluded to it again while I was polishing my bike up. So before I could help myself, the following words emerged:

"If the women in this house look at it again, they'd better have a helmet in one hand and a leather jacket in the other. That's the only FU$*!NG way they are getting anywhere near it."

I think my point about the bike was made. Haven't heard a peep from them since I said that.

Yeah, I don't understand why you would pay that much for something that is only thin, not even much lighter than other laptops, and certainly not ultraportable. The specs are so sad it's pathetic. If anyone really wanted a true ultraportable I would tell them that the eeePC is much better, and at its price even if you don't like it you can just give it to your kid or something and they've got a cheap, moderately durable (no spinning platters), internet machine that won't get viruses. The Air is just for idiot fanboys who are obsessed with form over function. Even most mac fanboys wouldn't buy one.

It's so small so that you have to buy movies FROM itunes instead of using a dvd. Who wants to carry around an external drive when you can just buy most movies from Itunes?

I beg to differ. Handbrake, anyone?

The Dell M1330 Is better than that. you can get all the highend parts for the Dell and pay the same price as that Apple.

for $9 more you get a Dell that will take a BIG BITE out of Apple.

What I'm curious to know is why we go out of our way simply to discredit Apple's products?

Are we jealous? do we somehow feel threatened by Apple? is there some underlying need to bash any new Apple product that comes out?

Is there something they have that we dont?

Hey, you have to give Apple some credit. They managed to pack more features into the Air than other computers have.

(Please look at the link before you yell at me for "supporting" the Air.")

lol... so they made the world thinnest and most travel friendly notebook... that's only usable inside a network with accessible PCs?

"say... stranger... do you mind if i put this unknown disk in your laptop and access everything inside your PC though the amazing wi-fi network?"

YES YOU CAN!!! just hull your 50 pounder(antec P180) desktop with you in the plane.... it almost fit in your hand luggage's requirement...
and bring a CRT or LCD with you or something...
be sure to remember to pray to god you can find a 1000 watt power plug somewhere on the plane.
