Maximum PC

I have 2 old laptops, both compaq presarios.
one is a 1270, one is a 1685. They both appear to have about the same chassis and dimensions. The 1685 works fine except the lcd is broken, while the 1270 has a good screen, but it has had issues ever since my friend accidently dropped it on the floor. Does anyone know if its possible to put the screen from the 1270 onto the 1685? I'd like to find out if anyone has done this as i'm wary of taking them apart to begin with.

I'd be checking model specs for the LCD before anything to confirm that the LCDs are even remotely interchangable, even chat with HP/Compaq to see what info you can get.
