I think the iPhone has some great ideas implemented into it, but would i ever really use any of them?
Everything the iPhone can do, my smart phone was doing 2 years ago. And it was half the cost.
I don't want to end up on the iPhone side, and i'm certainly no expert on smartphones, but i've never seen another single device system with some of the features the iPhone sports.
The speed based touch scrolling, the visual voicemail, the multi-touch sensing/scaling, the internal proximity, motion and light sensors, cover-flow music browsing, etc.
There are a lot of unique features, and you can't really deny it's sleek look. Some people find all that unique stuff really important, some people don't. Some people cheer with pavlovian glee when they see big, shiny, candy-color'd, buttons to slam with their finger. Some people just share their heads at those people, fire off some files over 3G, and then voice dial/IM their buddies for lunch plans.
Keeps the world turning i suppose.
