I'm curious to see what you all think of the iphone. It seems like a lick device but is/was it worth 600 smackers?

hmmm, that seems to be a running theme with apple.......I don't understand why they cant make it removable. Especially with a high use item like a cell phone,. If they are just trying to make people buy more in the long run, this is an idiotic way to do it.

Palm is just as guilty.

I was ready to upgrade to the Palm T|X but after I found out the battery was non-removable I didn't bother.

IPhone is a waste of your money. See CNET's review http://www.cnettv.com/9710-1_53-28009.html

It's not a waste of money if you enjoy what you spend it on.

I wasn't into any of the iPhone hype at all but I stopped into the Apple Store on 5th Ave about a week after it was released just to say i put my hands on one. After messing around with it i can certainly say its a pretty slick device, but nothing i'd buy and still certainly not worth the cash they're asking for it.

Mobile devices like that are so personal for the user depending on what they need in one. I think the iPhone has some great ideas implemented into it, but would i ever really use any of them? Probably not, most of them just aren't important to me.

On the flip side, i'm in love with my Helio Ocean. Similiar device, but totally different in terms of communication options. They just happen to be all the ones i use so it was the right choice for me.

You can't really totally damn a device based on others reviews. You really need to put hands on and figure out if the device can meet your personal needs and expectations. For some people, the iPhone can do that.

Everything the iPhone can do, my smart phone was doing 2 years ago. And it was half the cost.

I don't want to end up on the iPhone side, and i'm certainly no expert on smartphones, but i've never seen another single device system with some of the features the iPhone sports.

The speed based touch scrolling, the visual voicemail, the multi-touch sensing/scaling, the internal proximity, motion and light sensors, cover-flow music browsing, etc.

There are a lot of unique features, and you can't really deny it's sleek look. Some people find all that unique stuff really important, some people don't. Some people cheer with pavlovian glee when they see big, shiny, candy-color'd, buttons to slam with their finger. Some people just share their heads at those people, fire off some files over 3G, and then voice dial/IM their buddies for lunch plans.

Keeps the world turning i suppose.
