Hi all! I recently purchased a new lap top based on a mobile A64 2800+. The strnage thing i noticed is that when im usung the ac power outlet, powernow seems to function as it should, adjusting the cpu speed as needed by use. However, when i use it on battery only, the speed of the cpu stays constant at full speed (1800mhz) and never alters. Ive used amd's powernow dash board to monitor the cpu voltage while on battery, and its at full 1.2v versus alternating between 0.9v - 1.2v when using powernow on ac power. This doesnt make sense to me. I am using the latest CPU drivers etc as i just formatted the laptop as soon as i got it using winxp pro with SP2. Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated. =)

VICTORY IS MINE! I downloaded a program called SpeedswitchXP and created a custom powerscheme =) seems to have fixed the problem. Me thinks there was either a windows problem or a problem with the driver from AMD. All is well again. thx for the reply though=)
