I'm eyeballing an Hitachi 7K60 60GB 7200RPM 8MB drive for my IBM A22m. It would replace a 4200RPM 2MB Hitachi drive that came with the computer. I like the idea of the speed improvements it would doubtless bring. Are all notebook drives the same in terms of dimensions? Should I be able to just plug it in and have it work? I suspect it will, but I'd like to be sure before sinking cash into this.

There's two formfactors, 9mm and 12.5mm......or maybe it's 9.5 and 12mm. I forget.

Anyway, you need to somehow find out which one your laptop accepts.

You could take your current drive out and stick a ruler next to it if you can't find the information anywhere.
