i'm looking for a laptop with GeForce Go 6800 Ultra and 1600x900 as a minimum, the question is, which CPU?

Sager has one with P4, and Dell has one with Pentium M, but almost $500 more. i assume it's better to go with the M since the P4 gets too hot for a laptop.

is there anything from a reputable company that has Turion with the reqs in the first paragraph?

Sager really looks like the most efficient way to go, but i'm just not a big fan of P4 in a notebook, especially a Prescott.

I'm in the same position.

My laptop's about to die on me, and I'm also looking at the ProStar branded D900T, but I really don't want to get a laptop with that Prescott chip in it.

Only problem is that they're probably going to continue selling that model until roughly Q2 2006 when the dual core Pentium M with EMT64 is released.

Hopefully by then Clevo's flagship model will no longer be powered by a P4 chip, be able to handle more then 2GB of RAM, and have two ExpressCard slots.

I just got some inside information that Clevo is about to release another version of the D900T that we've both been looking at.

They're calling it the D900K "F-Bomb".

The white papers say it's going to have similar specs to the D900T, but it's going to be powered by a Dual Core Athlon 64 X2 processor. It's going to have the same options as the D900T such as the upgradeable video modules, ultra-brite glossy screens, etc.

Word on the grapevine is that it's going to be released in about 3 weeks. But after seeing the D900T's release dates get pushed back by 2 months last September, I have a funny feeling we might be waiting till the end of November again.

Personally, I've never ever considered buying an AMD powered laptop (however I do have 2 K6 systems, and an Athlon MP system), but this may change all that because there's no way in hell I'd buy the D900T with a Prescott powering it, not even the 840 chip.

i was looking around, and i don't believe nVidia has a chipset for laptops. if all the AMD laptops will be using VIA, i'm just gonna go with the Dell XPS Gen 2.

Nothing wrong with VIA in a laptop.

There's a VIA Apollo Pro 133AX in my current laptop that has been rock solid for the past 4 and a half years.

Asus makes a great barebones that has a 6800 video card, dual hard drives, and a desktop 500 or 600 series P4. They are super fast. they can be had for under $1100, I actually sell them in my store and they are super fast, I'd highly recommend it if you want to try to build one (very easy to do)

maybe wait a little bit for the Cedar Mill 65nm p4s to release? much less wattage & thermal dissipation.

Nice.

A solid little Pentium M system with badass graphics.
