I don't know if this topic should belong here, but it is laptop related. I have a uniwill 257sa1 laptop. I have been trying to flash my bios for hours now. Its giving me a massive headache. I wasted 4 cd-r's already. Okay, Here is my problem. I don't know how to use ms-dos on xp, so I thought a bootable disk can solve that. My laptop does not have a floppy drive so I tryed to create a bootable disk CD using nero, and adding my bios utility there. I used nero express, choose the bootable cd option, then I added my two bios files and burned the cd. The computer boots fine from the cd. How am I suppose to run the bios utility? Can somehow give me detailed instructions on how to create a bootable cd that can flash my bios?? I received instructions on how to flash my bios here http://uniwill.com/UserDownload/257sa1/257sa1.php its the manufacturer of my laptop. I've flashed bios before in the past, but that was when I had a floppy drive.

Did you unzip the bios and flash utility before making the bootable CD? Won't work unless you do :)

Doesn't matter if you boot off of the floppy or CD. If the laptop supports booting from CD (which obviously it does,) It's just emulating a floppy drive and probably has an A: drive letter.

That said. at the prompt type in "F82745 257sa1.200"

This should run the flash utility with the correct update file.

If that doesn't work, just type "F82745" and it should have a menu where you can type the name of the new ROM, which is "257sa1.200"

Thanks I'll try that.
