Customer dropped off laptop she spilled milk on. Computer shut off and would not turn back on, obvious motherboard issue due to spilled milk, lol. Cleaned it up and sent to Dell for repair. They were able to detect a liquid was spilled on it, not covered under warranty. They want $700 for new motherboard.

Customer just got this laptop about 6 months ago, still owes $1000 on it. I have checked on ebay and found some motherboards for between 300 and 400. That is option #1.

Option 2 is to part the laptop out and get what i can for the parts.

Option 3 is to sell the laptop as-is and let someone else deal with it.

At this point I think i want to get it repaired and then sell it. I have already bought the laptop from the customer. I traded her a Sempron 2400+ tower, 256mb, cd-rw, 17" Mag, kb and mouse for the laptop and everything she got with it. Good deal if i can get it fixed and resell it for a nice profit.

What im looking for is recommendations on where to get this fixed, or any other ideas yall might have on this project. Id rather send it some place that other members may have dealt with in the past and had a good experience with. Ive prolly got $300 into that computer i traded her, so if i can get that much out of the laptop, id be happy, lol. Bigger profit is always nicer tho.

I dunno, that never seems to work too well. I might look into it and see what i get. ::several minutes later:: I was checking and earlier yesterday the LCD alone went for $150. I think this is going to work out nicely.

im sure you can get way more from that LCD. That thing's gotta be a UXGA. Check local repair shops if somene is in need. That's how I sold the screen from my 8100 series notebook. Someone really needed it bad and took it for $600.00 I did the replacement and got an additional fifty

Thats what im doing. Everything is currently listed on ebay, auctions ending tomorrow morning sometime. I got $150 for the LCD, Buy It Now price. I did a little checking and that seemed to be the area they were going for. Might have gotten more, i should have let the auction go, lol.
