Many of you are familiar with the power of Sager Notebooks, and how they whip ass over other laptops. The current flagship (np9860), which was already a beast and a half, recently announced they will be supporting the new Intel 600 series 64bit processors, and are available now.

Add to this it's 17" Wsxga+ screen, x800 gpu, dual opticals, Raid, built in tv tuner, 4.1 built in speakers, 7.1 digital sound output, built in camera, plus the salad shooter, the paring knives, and the Easy Bake Oven, and you've got one helluva laptop. Many were hoping for an Athlon 64 version of this laptop, but I guess Intel 64 will have to do.

If anyone is interested in purchasing, you can usually get a better deal through one of their resellers than directly through sager.

http://www.pctorque.com is the one I like. They are a smallish company, but they are truly attentive, been around a while, and service is excellent

I get all my Clevo lovin action from Pro-Star jigga.

http://www.pro-star.com

They gots the 64-bit shiznatchski, but only if you choose the 2MB L2 cache chips. They're still selling the older Prescotts in those beasts as well.

I'm planning on picking one up when they go dual core, and maybe add Firewire800, and an 802.11a/b/g miniPCI card, AND MAYBE MORE PC CARD SLOTS DAMMIT!!!!!

i haven't been shopping around, but i'll go on a limb and say that powernotebooks.com has the lowest prices. ~$2900 right now for the force model with a p4 660 and no OS.

Dunno how you guys are configuring, but over at pctorque:

660 (3.6ghz, 64bit)
2x1g ram sticks
2x80gb SATA
2xDL DVD burner
tv tuner
802.11g + bluetooth
no os or software and just the standard warranty

$3629

With a 3 year warranty that includes accidental LCD damage

$3809

Edit: Nevermind, same setup over at powernotebooks comes out about $200 cheaper! Looks like they win.

Okay, i did a bit more configurating, and If anyone is seriously interested in ordering, they should do the same. Whose proces are better depends on what options and speeds you go with. Lower end configurations were much cheaper at pctorque, but higher end configurations were cheaper at powernotebooks. There are also apparently some warranty differences since Powernotebooks doesn't offer a warranty that includes accidental LCD damage. So like everything else, I guess it all depends. Dammit, now I have to look elsewhere for absolutes.

I'm still waiting for:

ExpressCard
Firewire800 (Firewire2 to you Mac people)
Dual Core 64-Bit EE Pentium CPU
802.11a/b/g + Bluetooth miniPCI card
120GB drives and 7,200RPM 80GB & 100GB drives
and something better then WSXGA+ because that's like a half step better then my 4 year old Pro-Star with SXGA+.

2 card slots instead of one would be a plus too but not necessary.

Ok.

I've got one of these on order (just waiting for my Pay Pal confirmation).

3.6ghz P4 660 (2 meg cache, em64t compatible)
1 gig of dual channel PC4200
60 gig 7200 rpm drive
all the other stuff listed above.

Now...here's the question. Which video card?

ATI or Nvidia
256 meg ddr3 pci-x cards

I've read reviews from a couple months ago (PCtorque, I think), showing that the ATI is faster and they even overclocked it. But, in maxpc they make it sound like the 6800 in the Alienware is different from the voodoo from a few months back. Does anyone know if this is a new card? Or, are there any links out there that compare them?

I can change it in the next couple days, if I decide to. Right now, I chose the ATI, hoping it would cool the toaster down a little more than the 6800 would.

Any help would be great!

PS - This laptop is a touch over $3000 at www.discountlaptops.com

Just another reseller, but with a 10 rating at resellerratings.

Right now I'm on the ATI side of the fence with my 9700 Pro in my workstation and the Rage Mobility 128 in my laptop.

However, that being said if I were to buy that beast right now, I'd take the nVidia chip solely because I'd want the PS 3.0 support.
