Even thought Dell does not supply drivers for this configuration, I was actually very pleased with the win7 64 install on this giant laptop. But am still having a lingering problem. The install only came up with 3 driver issues, which I thought was amazing considering the page of yellow and 2 days of down loads and playing I had with a previous XP 32 sp2 install.
Two of the driver issues were fixable after a little research (card readers and sound card) both fixed with Vista 64 drivers from the Dell web site. But I'm still fighting the bluetooth.
Despite showing in Device Manager as an unknown device the bluetooth unit is able to operate most of the functions on the keyboard ...... ????? I've read that many people who had attempted this had to resort to an aftermarket usb bluetooth adaptor (I guess they may still be an option for me).
The standard keys, volume controls, and the touchpad function despite frequently needing to be "woken up", but the Fn keys do not work. So no screen brightness adjustment and no on/off for the wifi, and I can't get battery status on the keyboard.
Has anybody found a work around for this? I think that a dedicated driver for the keyboard would probably solve it, but Dell does not look like they will provide one.
