Maximum PC

Hey all,

I'm somewhat disappointed by the Xandros OS that my Asus Eee1000 came with and am looking at putting something else on it, might try Jolicloud. Anyway, my question is:

Is there a way to install another OS on the netbook, but still be able to use the factory reset(F9 on boot) to completely restore it? I've installed Linux a few times, and I know there is a part where you can specify HDD formatting, but I want to make sure I can reset if I ever get rid of it.

If I would loose the reset functionality, what would you recommend?

Old post, but pointing someone to the index of eeeuser.com is like pointing at a globe and telling them that this is where they live. Trust me, I'm a much more frequent contributor to eeeuser, you didn't help much.

As long as you keep the recovery partition intact, you can install whatever else you want over the other partition. I kept my XP F9 recovery install on my Eee 1000HE even when my main OS was Ubuntu or Win 7. You should continue to be able to use F9 as long as that recovery partition doesn't change.

Did your Eee PC come with a restore disc? if not, can you create one from the restore partition on hdd?
