Hopefully this is the right place for this, I figure the road warriors will know if anyone does.
Do many new phones 'randomly' connection to the web and send small data packets? I recently I got some new phones through AT&T (Samsung Solstice), I checked out my bill and noticed I had a bunch of data usage charges. Not sure if I've accidentally stumbled into things that incur data usage charges, or if something else is going on.
A lot of the charges are like 1KB and 3KBs the largest I think is 100KB, all outbound.
Basically I'm trying to figure out if this is my fault or if something else is going on here. I know its not unprecedented for AT&T and other carries to hit customers with enormous erroneous data usage charges.
For the record I've not sent texts, pictures, videos, downloaded anything like apps or music. When prompts have appeared saying usage charges may apply I've clicked no and backed out of it.
If anyone can shine any light on this I'd appreciate it.
