Maximum PC

So I was talking with a network administrator at my high school and he gave me recommendations for some books to read if I wanted to get into network administration. He told me to start with a TCP/IP and then move onto a DNS book from there. The TCP/IP book he recommended was this one O'reilly book. http://oreilly.com/catalog/9780596002978/

My concern is that this book was published in 2002, thus being before windows server 2003. I was wondering if this might be a problem with my education. If so, which books would you recommend?

Feel free to give me additional advice on where to study.

Actually. TCP/IP hasn't changed much in 7 years. How we use it has been expanded, but by and large, the core principles of it remain the same.

I've read some Orielly books and the ones I've read have been kinda dry. Take a trip to a few book stores in your area and have a read. I've been studying for my CCNA and I've found my favorite networking book through it. Sybex CCNA study guide by Todd Lammle. I've also read the Sams Teach Yourself Networking in 24 hrs book, which I also recommend.

Could you tell a bit more about the larger picture of what you're hoping to learn? Looking to become a SysAdmin? Windows or *NIX? There are a couple different fields, and the jobs tend change names depending on employers. One company's Network Engineer is another company's Senior System Administrator.
