That is too broad of a question. Salaries are very dependent on location, and exact responsibilities. Just asking about "programming" isn't specific enough.

Have you asked Google?

This question makes no sense.

Programming isn't the highest paid position in IT (by a large margin).

The first item of business after successfully stealing his identity would be divorcing the hosebag of a wife and getting some young arm candy!

LMAO!

Seriously, from what I can see, IT jobs *can* pay pretty well, but the farther you get into the business/management side of it, the better the pay is. Of course, once you're there, you're not writing code or checking server logs. You're managing the department of people who do those things. CIOs and IT directors are the ones making the real bank. A six figure income just isn't what it used to be, eh?

Programming is to IT what 'general labour' is to construction... you'll NEVER get the highest salary in any company if you just sling code.

Management pays well .. and is numbingly boring.

If you want to program and get paid well (ie, > 100,000K/yr.), you should be looking at becoming a software architect or project manager. Sometimes, these guys get to write code .. but the architect has the most fun of all (design!!).

to answer your question. Security pays well and networking. Check out pay for cisco ccie.

I am assuming you are talking IT and not managment.
