The Job site is Corona, east of Orange County. The pay is pretty good as a start anyway, especially since I have no certs.

There's a lot more pay as you move up, but that requires certs for sure.

The two big ones I would add to the search are dice.com and computerjobs.com.

IMO certs have value but most companies don't know what they are doing. They just start listing things in their adds. Just because you don't think you qualify doesn't mean you don't apply. I have seen several companies listing very specialized requirements and not offering much for it. There is nothing wrong with getting into a nitch market but always make sure you are opening more and better doors then you are closing.

The most important thing is that you interview well. Being professional, and knowing your stuff will always out way a lack of requirements. Just remember, in the end there is only one thing a company cares about, the bottom line. There are two ways that you can improve that by either earning them more money or by saving them money. Prove one of those during the interview and you will get a good offer.
