Hey all...I recently quit my job with the federal governement where I worked as an "IT Specialist" as well as a "Program Manager". Most of my IT experience is on the desktop side with some database programming, NT/2003 and Exchange experience. Now I'm looking to get cert'd in something. I think MCSE piques my interest and a Google search gives me plenty of programs, but I want to ensure I'm getting the most for my money. Can anyone recommend a good Online MSCE program? Thanks a bunch!!!

As someone who formerly held a MCSE, I can tell you that the class material will all be the same.

However, instructors will vary, and classroom equipment will vary.

At the time when I took my classes (95 and NT 4.0), the computers in the lab were all Pentium machines, with maybe 64 MBs of RAM.

This was more than fine when dealing with 95, and even NT 4.0 Workstation, but under the server side (especially Enterprise) things started to choke a bit.

I also lucked out with my instructor. He was fairly knowledgeable, and even better, he understood that different people moved at different paces. IE: he didn't give me any flack when I breezed through installing the actual OS, etc.

If any of your colleagues are certified, ask them where they went, if locally.

Obviously you could go somewhere like ITT or Virginia tech, but from my understand (never attended either place) they're moneysucking grubs.

The place where I took mine was a local tech school, not affiliated nationwide.

Like I said, look around at local places.

Actually I'd like to go the online route...or is that not a good way to do it?

Sorry.

Misread the thread title.

You're quite possibly as well off buying some books or practice tests.

Maybe someone else does know of a reliable online class.

If you don't have copies of the software, you might be better off attending classes in a lab.
