Greetings Learning@Cisco and extended business partners

I am very proud to announce the addition of a new entry-level certification, CCENT™ (Cisco Certified Entry Network Technician) to the Career Certifications Program, along with significant enhancements to the popular CCNA® certification. The introduction of CCENT is a significant milestone as we continue to strive towards our overall goal of developing Cisco certified technical talent globally.

CCENT presents a new point of entry to those just beginning to build a career in networking. As an optional stepping stone to CCNA, CCENT validates the skills required to successfully install and verify basic networks – a requirement for most entry-level network support positions. At the same time, Cisco’s foundational CCNA curricula has been revised to include a greater breadth of networking topics and more focus on performance-based skills to differentiate Cisco certified applicants in the IT job market.

The certification localization policies have also been revamped to meet global demand. The result being the CCNA curricula, available on July 26, 2007, and exams, available on August 1, 2007, will both be released in English and translated versions will be made available at a later date.

In a related announcement, the Cisco Networking Academy introduced their new CCNA curriculum. The Networking Academy CCNA curriculum now consists of two tracks, CCNA Discovery and CCNA Exploration which target different student segments based on their academic experience and goals. Both tracks align to the revised CCNA certification curriculum and are proof of the solid partnership between the Learning@Cisco and Networking Academy teams. I would like to congratulate everyone who worked so diligently on developing and bringing to market this product set.

The launch of CCENT and the revisions to CCNA are reflective of the Learning@Cisco team’s new direction. We will continue to invest heavily in Cisco educational initiatives around the world to ensure proper coverage of technical skills for our customers, our partners and ourselves.

Thank you,

Steve Gordon

VP, Learning@Cisco

I think any community college should offer prep classes, and then have an option for you to take the test.
