I'm going out on a limb here but the inability to spell compensation probably isn't going to help your cause. Are you aware their are all kinds of independent companies that provide nothing but census data on the IT employment market (including education) and what the salary ranges are?

Pay Scale isn't a bad general and is precisely what I had in mind. I mention it because they include Illinois and allow you to drill to education markets (even down to management).

EdTech is a great resource for education related IT. I know they publish scope specific compensation reports because I fill out the survey and have them send me the HigherEd one each year. I can't find the K-12 counterpart but a quick call to them may help.
