I am currently doing loss prevention and am looking to get into computers as a career. I am basically a self taught computer nerd over the last year, but am no expert.

I am looking into getting some certifications, like A+, networking +, and various MS certs to help me jump start building a resume.

Does anyone recommend any full fledge study books for the exams?

Also, where does one find the testing sites where the exams are administered.

Forgive if this is in the wrong area, I figured since I am looking for book purchasing this was the place. If not feel free to move. thanks.

i am in sort of the same boat as you. i didnt do so well in college but i do want to get into computers as a carrer. i have quite a bit more than 1 yr of experience ( i really started getting into computers in the 486 days, but back then i was a middle school kid) but basicly everything i know i taught myslef.

i picked up an A+ book and my friend picked up a network + book and we will swap when we each are done with them, but i havent gotten really far in mine yet. but i got a job over at the Geek Squad a bit more than a month ago cause i figured if anything it would look good on a resume. ( not to mention the best buy discount is pretty sweet too).

just keep truckin along best you can. go to the barns and noble or borders book store in your area and check out the computer book section and pick out the one that looks best to you.

1) this belongs in the Education & Certification section

2) Mike Meyer's A+ Passport is the best book for what you are looking for.
