I was hoping to get some ideas for a home based computer business. Coming up with a name that sounds professional is eluding me atm. I have a few ideas right now but nothing that sounds good. I live in northern Canada and am from a small community with a popualation of about 5000 ppl, and was going to try out a home based computer repair business. I really don't want to use a name like ie: (name) computers or something like that. Any ideas would be appriciated.

There are a few inherent problems with small companies that don't specify what they are in the name. For example, if you are trying to reach your base customer, (which is someone who needs computer repair) with a name like Twizzler, there is nothing there for them to associate you with computer repair so they'll just skip on to the other guy. The reason why so many bigger companies can get away with the naming them without any association to what they do, is because they are an established brand, with excellent marketing and huge budget. Look at names like Ikea, Pepsi, Dillards. They are all very big businesses whose names don't associate them with what they do. Now Pepsi is also called Pepsi Cola but its not advertised that why anymore. And Ikea, they use to use Ikea home furnishings but rarely. I would suggest using something that has computer repair until at least you get big.

How about Computer Doctor, Computer Mechanic, "Your City" Computer, Computer Services, INC, "The Street" Computers(i.e. Main Street Computers)? I would also think about researching computer shops around your area and possibly become a franchise of an already established chain.

Where are you at in our great north? I always trip to about an hour above Parry Sound, very remote.

Heres some computer store names around here:
Southpoint Computers
Sensible Computers
Canada Computers
Baden Computers

Try something with "Computing" in it. When I'm joking around about businesses, I like "WMH Computing", those are my initials. Fool around, talk to your friends, find something that rolls off the toungue nicely.

well I don't like posting my ideas but some of the most catchy names for a PC business are linked to computers. WOW amazing right?

think storage for a minute.
Everyone automatically associates Gigabyte with computers!!!

Just don't use boring and depressing names like...
PC doctor, or tech hospital...

Ever heard this one? "Think outside the Box!"
"Think inside the box" :?

Oh, FYI: don't take the name Gigabyte or Exabyte both of which I own intellectual property rights on.

The most successful PC repair francise btw is 'Friendly Computers.'
They are everywhere now and the name alone probably helps the business.
