This summer I have an internship(paid
) at a big corporation to completely restructure their network. This means routers, switches, fiber, ethernet and I'm sure more things I don't know a thing about. What do you guys think would be good things to know before walking in the door. I know how to terminate ethernet, know basic network setups, know nothing about fiber/termination. I'm revisiting linux this summer for school work the following semester but I don't know if Ubuntu and Gentoo will help this at all. I really don't know what goes in a network of this size. Could you guys shed some light on what is involved in such a procedure.
