I'm about to graduate in May. I'll have a BS in Computer Information Systems and I really don't even know where to start. I've got a little job experience in tech support etc from working at the college. I've been working for the IT department and have experience with a whole bunch of tech related things. From HEAT call logging, kiosk installation, data jack inspection / repair, network troubleshooting, etc. I'll be interning with the college next semester developing a job application system for their HR department. I know these things will look very good on my resume, but honestly I don't know where to apply for a job...

Are there any good companies that are friendly towards "newbies"? Where's a good place to start? I live in the NE area of the US. I have my resume up on Monster and Dice, but I honestly don't know what I'm going to do when I graduate. You don't realize how scary it is until you get here  . Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If the job runs away for now, try an internship...
Good luck!

At least here in WI, you got a chance anywhere, with a BS. I am having a lot of problems as returning to school from a welder, and shooting for a AssDegree.

It seems to me you may be bouncing abit but with your degree and little experanice will at least get you in the door.
Good luck at job hunting

I just graduated in May with a BS in Computer Science (lots of programming classes). I worked for the college I went to as their Computer Repair Tech. Gained lots of experience. I haven't programmed since I graduated. I walked on a Saturday and started my new job the following Monday (only landed the job about 1.5 weeks ahead of graduation). I work for a small newspaper. I am a one-man IT department. Sucks at times but other times it is ok.

I don't make the money that I want to make but I am gaining professional experience that will look really good on a resume in a couple years.

Moral of the story: Don't expect to land in that $80k a year job right out of school. Take a reputable position, gain some more experience/confidence, and then look for that dream job while you are paying the bills at the other job.
