I'm studying right now for my A+ cert with the A+ for dummies book, it seems pretty good. My question is for you guys that are repair techs right now, do you run into some of the older stuff in the A+ cert books? It seems to go into some old stuff I would never expect to run into. Also, do you think that it will be updated soon, it doesnt have hardly any of the newer technology. I find myself having to unlearn some things I know from building and troubleshooting my own PC for the A+ exam.
I'm currently studying for my A+ as well. I'm using A+ Complete Study Guide- Deluxe Edition. (ISBN 0782140521) I bought it for little or nothing on Amazon.com. The CompTIA Web site has a list of current books that cover all the new stuff on the A+ test. The book I just mentioned is on there, but it only goes up to Windows 2K. It's easy to read. I'm not sure about the "For Dummies" material. The bottom line is you need to know the "old stuff" for the foundation of newer technology. You will be surprised how sometimes the "old stuff" can save your a**

(Even on newer technology)
