Ok guys im currently studying to take my A+ certification test. Im curious as to how much you can charge after you are certified while working for yourself? Also how much could you make taking up a job at a local pc place with a cert? Im planning on also gettin an Apple certification in repair aswell. Thing is i do not want to stop at a couple certifications i want to go and go. Can you guys recommend some certifications i should take to see me well through the future? Thank you in advance.

Depending on what exactly you plan to do I would recomend Net+, MCP, Security+, Server+, CCNA, and possibly a little Linux+ for the occasional Linux system.

It really depends if it is standard maintenance or a single job. I normally charge a flat fee of $35/hr. I have my A+. I just feel that is a reasonable fee, but everyone is entitled to their oppinion. Normal A+ techs, mid twenties and up probably charge $60/hr. Microsoft certs charge as much as $175. Just depends on what you have and how good you really are as diagnosing and troubleshooting a problem.
