Maximum PC

So I have always loved computers and recently decided that I would love to pursue a career in Security possibly even into the Penetration Testing area. Problem is there's just so much to learn and I really have no idea where to start. Some websites say start with an A+ cert and work your way up the Certs from there while getting job experience along the way, and others say don't waste time with A+. Honestly, studying and putting lots of time into education isn't a roadblock for me. I enjoy learning just wondering where the best place to start would be. Starting in October I am going to be starting some college classes and working towards a Bachelor's in Computer Sciences. I pick things up really quickly I just need help finding the entry ramp.
