I'm currently studying for the A+ exam.

I'm going through professor Messer's free online video series, CompTIA A+ Cert Guide (220-701 and 220-702) (2nd Edition) [Hardcover]
( Comp TIA Mark Soper ), and CompTIA A+ 220-701 and 220-702 Exam Cram (5th Edition)

Any other suggestions, resources you found helpful?

Thanks!

Just stick around on computer tech forums and lerk; read other tech forums/websites and do some research about computers. Honestly, A+ cert's are completely worthless as a marketable skill (beyond simple helpdesk jobs like geeksquad) and most of the information that is "required" is very generic and dated. If you know the different computer parts are, how to build one, how to troubleshoot and basic common sense, its very easy to pass.

If you have any specific questions about computers, post them up. Lots of free info on the net; specially over on wiki for general knowledge stuff.
