Maximum PC

So, I'm currently serving in the military and my commitment will be up in a little under a year now, and I'm looking to seperate at that point since it's about time for a change. I have a BS in computer engineering, and want to get into some sort of tech related field when I'm finished, and thus started looking at Cisco certifications. I've picked up a book for CCNA and have been studying it for a little bit now, and started wondering: while there is one chapter in this book covering IPv6, will the test change rather drastically in the near future (1-2 years) because of the eventual transition to IPv6 that I should wait to take it?

There's a plenty reasons why you shouldn't put off the CCNA. For one, it's going to be years before IPv4 is completely a thing of the past. I would be willing to bet that if you pass the CCNA today, when you have to recertify in 3 years, IPv4 will still be around. For two, Cisco doesn't make drastic changes to their certs and start dropping topics haphazardly. For example, it's been some time since they stopped supporting SDM, but it hasn't been taken off of any exams. For three, there's always going to be something coming tomorrow that's going to supersede what you were tested on today. And four, there's a lot more to the CCNA than just IPv4.

The CCNA is a well recognized certification. Your resume won't get past a lot of HR checklists without it.
