That's a good aticle. This is seriously making me wish I was running on a 3000+ right now. I'm currently at XP 3200+ speeds.

Had my brother's 3000+ running at 2.2ghz with stock cooling, but the measly 350W antec psu seems to be unable to put out enough juice, so for now it's gonna have to stay at stock speeds until he gets a beefier psu.

Aside from that, it oc's very well, I had it easily running at 2.2ghz like I said, and had he bought a better psu I could have easily pushed another 100+ mhz out of it.

How's it folding MC?

I'd like to know how a 3000+ @ 2.2ghz folds.

Oh yeah, either use EMIII or calculate by hand the points per day, that is the figure I'm looking for. Also, list the WU name.

I'm pretty much set on AMD 64 for my next build, hopefully in a couple of months. Nice to see some good OC potential, I may go with a 3000+ or 3200+ and OC the hell out of it, rather than the 3500+ route I was planning. Really got the gears turning thinking about how I'm gonna do the next build, thinking water cooling..

Well right now it is still folding a "p1411_Q26x3 in water" IIRC. As far as folding speeds at 2.2ghz goes, i'll let you know when I get it folding at 2.2 again. Actually, if I have time, I've been kinda busy lately, I'll install EM on his comp to see how it is folding at stock speeds. Unfortunately I don't think he's been running it at night, so it won't be putting out any amazing numbers yet.

Anyways, when I find the time I'll get it running at 2.2 again and convince my bro to leave the comp on 24/7. Then I'll really be putting up some points. Oh yeah and on a side note, if my neighbor ever gets around to getting a wireless router from his uncle I'll probably be able to convince him to fold on his dell. It isn't fast, either a cely or a slow p4, not sure, but it all adds up.

Isn't your brother's computer on a network? Or don't you live in the same building as your brother? Cause, EMIII will work on clients that are on the network.

Yeah it's on our home network. I was wondering though, EMIII has to be installed on not only my comp, but also his, in order to get results from his computer, right?

Nope, as long as both machines are on the same local network, you can view the progress of his work units.

Basically, all you have to do is tell EMIII where his FAH executable is on the network, just the same as you tell EMIII where your FAH executable is on your hard drive.

As long as both computers are on the same workgroup, and his FAH directory is shared on that workgroup, it should be as easy as expanding the network tree, then expanding the workgroup tree, expanding his computer, opening his FAH directory, and double clicking on the FAH executable.

Well I got it running at 2.2 again, and I got EMIII running also. Currently his rig is folding a "p1243_fsunf_305_99p_M23", a lousy 57 pointer, which is only netting him aound 120-130 ppd. I have been getting some of these on my rig too, and they also kill my average. I'll post back when he starts getting some real wu's and not these crappy 57pointers.

One other thing to consider is that while his proc is oc'ed to a 245mhz fsb(245x9=2205), his ram is running at stock ddr-400 speeds(2205/11 divider) because there is no way his ram would scale to 490mhz. I'm not sure how much effect this has on folding, but at least the proc is running at 2.2 again.

Oh I almost forgot, I convinced him to run his comp at night so he doesn't have to defrag his hard drive, or scan for viruses manually, and yes it folds at night while the computer is getting it's house cleaning.

Okay, on a similar protien (P1239) I averaged 106ppd at the same clock speed!

Your getting 20% better points at the same clock speed!
