Hi All,

I am planning on building a new machine as my other one has become too slow to use.

I work heavily with Visual Studio's, Virtual Machines, SQL Server, streaming TV Shows and watching films.

I already have a blu ray drive, solid state drive and graphics card that I will be reusing.

The current configuration that I am looking as is this:

Fractal Design Define R3 Black Pearl Mid-Tower USB 3.0 Case
Noctua Dual Radiator and Fan CPU Cooler Multi-Socket
Asus P8Z77-V DELUXE S1155 Intel Z77 DDR3 ATX
Corsair 16GB (2 x 8GB) LP Vengeance 1600MHz DDR3 240-pin DIMM CL10
Intel Core i7-3770K S1155 3.5GHz 8MB
Corsair 850W Corsair Modular PSU

Current Total: €1026.56 from dabs.ie

Is this overkill or is there a component that won't play nice together.

All comments welcome.

I think it will be a nice build :)

Question re your choice of the deluxe version ASUS mobo? Because of the wifi or bluetooth?

For what you need, I don't think this is overkill, but what is wrong with overkill anyway?

For that build, you don't really need 850 watts, even 450 watts will be more than enough.

The power requirements depend on OP's other hardware (notably, the graphics card) and if there are plans to overclock the processor. For a high-end machine, usually 650W is good for a single GPU setup, assuming a flagship GPU. Otherwise it can be lowered to about 550W-600W depending on the tier.

If there are no plans to overclock however, a high-end air cooler should do just fine.
