Hi guys,

I'm building my first PC and I'm really excited about it. I will be using it for HD video/photo editing, school work, and multimedia. I will NOT be playing any games on it. I need advice on what components I should purchase for this build. Below is my list of parts I'm thinking about getting:
 
Computer Case: Cooler Master 690 II advanced
 
Motherboard: ASUS P8Z68 Deluxe
 
Processor: Intel Core i5-2500k or i7 2600k
 
RAM: G.Skill 16GB DDR3 – Model: F3-10666CL7Q-16GBXH
 
Solid State Drive: 60GB for boot drive (any suggestions?)

HDD: WD caviar black 1TB
 
Optical Drive: any good CD/DVD reader/writer combo
 
Video card: Any suggestions?
 
Power Supply: Haven't decided
 
OS: Windows 7 ultimate 64-bit
 
Will this system be overkill for my needs? Any advice and suggestions would be great. thank you

What is your overall budget? what parts do you have that you can recycle?

My budget is $1000-1300. I don't have any parts I can re-use. My current desktop is a prebuilt HP machine which im giving away to a friend.
