I have an XFX ATI Radeon 5850 currently at stock settings
Max: 725/1000
Idle: 400/900

When I overclock to any level, even just a few Hz more, my idle speeds drop to 157/300. And so whenever I'm using the idle speeds such as browsing, the screen gets really glitchy and its like the page is having lag as I scroll. I've tried overclocking with CCC and MSI Afterburner and both have the same thing. However, when I launch a game, everything is fine.


One other thing is that both MSI Afterburner and CCC is limited to 775/1125 max clocks. However, after doing some research, some people say this card works just fine at 800/1200 and even beyond. What do I do to extend the clocks?

well, you can add a little voltage, try it just one step at a time, and each card is different, one may overclock well, and the next one not at all. have not had a amd card for quite a while so I really dont know if the voltage can be changed, someone with amd experience will post i am sure.
