I've read that not all PSU's are created equal. I understand that, like I understand you get what you pay for. But my question is: I'm looking to get a new psu, specifically this Antec 900w (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6817371050) for possible dual gtx580(currently have one), but when I've done the outervision Power calc with 100% CPU, 100% component load, and 20% psu aging, I get 936w recommended/886w minimum. Will this PSU-or any PSU-not handle such a load? I know that my computer won't always be at 100% across the boards.

I'm comparing the PSU ratings to buying a mono amp and subs, and comparing them in terms of the RMS, not their peak. I don't know how else to explain it

Not factoring in the extra demands from the audio, it should be plenty.

I'm using the onboard audio or a USB headset. No audiophile here lol. So the ratings aren't really reliable then? How can I tell when a PSU is worth getting or not? Example: 900w antec v 900w thermaltake v 900w corsair v 900w diablotek.

you wouldnt have any problems with the first three, the last one would be one i wouldnt even consider. you could add pc power and cooling and seasonic to that list. some people do not like the thermaltakes, but i have used a 850w for years without any problem.
