I'm wondering if this build would be adequate for modern games such as Battlefield 3, Dead Space 2, Assassins Creed Brotherhood, etc.
Sapphire video card its a 5770 and seemed decently priced
Asus mobo
Intel i5-2500k at 224.99. I doubt a link is needed as most people know about the chip by now
Kingston memory
I'm willing to get less memory or cheaper gaming oriented memory.
seagate 1tb I have an external drive as well, but I save a lot of my movies and music and photos to my drives.
Sony dvd burner eventually I might get a blu ray, but with a ps3, i don't need one just yet.
Thermaltake case its cheap, with some room for expansion i imagine.
Antec power supply
I'm running windows 7 ultimate os(I have a license for it)
I am using a 22 inch tv that will double as my monitor for now.

You might want to purchase an AMD 6000 series GPU if you don't plan to upgrade the video gard any time soon. A 6850 from Newegg is only about fifty bucks more and will last you quite a bit longer.

ok, so how about this build? It comes with a 6850 card, Its a phenom 2 x6 black edition cpu, has a bluray player(which I don't mind having), and a couple other features. I'm just trying to find the best bang for the buck anywhere from 700-850 at the most and this particular build comes in at just under 850 with free 2 day shipping.

Looks good, though I prefer Intel CPUs, just a personal preference. I didn't see any mention of the CPU cooler, do you know what it uses, and if it's air or water cooled?

it says a heatsink and fan are included. And as of right now, I'm not planning on overclocking till I understand it better. and I have the money for liquid cooling

Antec makes good PSU's, however their Basiq line is not part of the "good" group. I'd recommend just about anything from corsair, or antec's Truepower and Earthwatts lines.
