My old Biostar AM2+ board finally crapped out so I'm upgrading to the ASUS M4A79XTD EVO with a Phenom II x2 565 and 8gigs of G Skill 1333 8-8-8-21. I'm new to overclocking AMD, and OCing in general I've only dabbled in it. I've done tons of searches on google and here to try and find an actual write up on how to go about this on air (using Zalman 92mm ball) but haven't really found any good articles on this CPU. So can someone point me in the right direction for this? I'm also going to try and tweak the RAM alittle as well.
Thanks in advance
Most over-clockers these days are all about the biggest and best and absolute highest numbers they can achieve, that being said, you probably wont find to much about your proc on Google. Thank God for MPCF, ok here is the long and short of it.
long. I think this is the best guide, because of the depth.MPC also has this guide witch is also GREAT!Short:
The main thing is, go up in small increments, maybe smaller than that since you are new. Then stress test and find your stable point/wall. For my self once i find something i think is stable i kick it down just a tick on the clock, and a tick UP on the voltage, it hasn't failed me yet. I think I should just warn you that since you are air cooling there are a lot more risk involved due to all the heat, so I suggest that you monitor it carefully. Also, We (Over-clockers) in general, most of us especially the old school guys, didn't read a guide. I am not saying that you shouldn't, YOU SHOULD (Many a K7 Have fallen to their doom because I was to stubborn to read on the topic, also, MOBOS, RAM, and even HDD'S), but it will be that tinkering tech brain of yours that brings you to where you want to be, but don't let it get you in trouble, because it easily can on an air cooling system.
Happy hunting.
