I'm overclocking a 2.8 GHz Phenom II x6 1055t on a Gigabyte 890GPA-UD3H board.

I got it up to 3.36 GHz stable.
-CPU multiplier x14 (it's locked regardless of what the bios says)
-HT x8
-bus 240 MHz
-RAM multipler x5.33

The RAM is 1333 DDR3, currently running at 1279.2
HT's default is 2000Mhz, currently running at 1920

Unfortunately, an increase to 250, or even 245 leaves me unable to boot into windows. Others site talk of 3.4 to 3.7 overclocks without increasing voltage. Just as a test I left the voltage control on auto and still couldn't get 250 to boot. I suspect the HT might be the problem even though 250x8 goes back to 2000 (and 245 still doesn't work). I guess a 560MHz increase isn't bad, but does anyone have any suggestions?

pre-tinted the CPU and heat sink, I don't see temps much more than about 10C over room temp according to the thermal sensor for my case.

"pre-tinted"

What's that?

also, for good temp readings, download and run HWMonitor (made by people who make CPU-Z), and run prime95.

Last point, when overclocking, no chip is guaranteed to overclock. One chip might do 4 ghz, another might not get anywhere.

Tinting is a technique form the arcticsilver website. You apply some compound to the cpu and bottom of the heatsink. Using an old credit card, or hard plastic edge, spread it out from center to edge covering about a quarter size area. Then without touching or using a cleaner, wipe off the excess with a non lint cloth. I used coffee filters. This leaves a discolored or "tinted" area where the compound has gotten the microscopic grooves. The purpose of this is it reduces the break-in period.

I've heard software based temp readings are unreliable. For instance, the bios gives a temp reading lower than my case's sensors.

I've also had a mobo sensor give me 20 C lower temp readings than actual. The temp readings from your case sensor will not be accurate unless you get the temp sensor directly into the CPU.

Has anyone posted results for an overclocked 1090t yet (in these forums)?

Check the brag thread.

Please don't post questions unrelated to the topic in someone else's thread. If you have a new question, feel free to start your own thread rather than hijacking this one.

Thanks!
