Hey guys, I have my Core i7-920 overclocked to 4.0GHz. My question is, along the standardized method of overclocking an X-58, is there anything that could have messed with my USB ports?

Specifically, since overclocking, connecting my iPhone to the computer though USB causes the computer to intermittently freeze. This includes the back ports of the board, but my WD MyBook 300GB connected by USB does not cause this problem, though I have experienced it with two separate flash drives (much less often).

The MyBook is permanently attached, the iPhone/flash drives maybe once, twice a day.

Any thoughts?

Update:

This occurs whenever the phone is within three feet of the computer and receives some form of data, from text to mail to call. Thoughts?

If you're overclocking by increasing your BCLK (which you are, iirc), then you are pushing the USB controller past spec. This might account for the problem.

Your update, however, tosses another wrench into the works. How is your iPhone connected to your PC when it is 'within several feet'? Bluetooth? Wifi?

Yeah, I've done all the troubleshooting I can and narrowed it down to just the phone.

The phone causes disturbances even if it's not connected to the wireless (and has never been attached by bluetooth).

Even if I turn all connection types other than Edge off, it will cause the computer to seizure whenever the phone receives data (e-mail, message, phone call) if within five feet of it.

Weird I know.

My memory does not work well but I can think of a couple of ideas.

1) RFI, Radio Interference. Is the computer case plastic or is there a great deal of plastic in the door? There could be a problem on the motherboard or other hardware.

2) There could be a software problem.

The answer to this question may have to come from an expert. Please let us know if you find the answer and post it here.
