Well one of my front case leds of my dell xps 720 is dead.

Does someone have experience changing it?
Or does someone know where I can buy that kind of led?

Or is the only option to repair it sending it back to dell for reparation?

Image

Thnx anyways
Alex~

Just buy a case led from newegg and wire it up. It's basically a christmas tree light...

Do you know what kind of led?
And the link of the item on the site?
Because it's a special one that can change in several colours. (Blue , Red , White, Green, ..)

Or you could pick your favorite color and leave them all on that color and buy that color led or replace all of the leds?

My first guess would be a call to Dell customer support. Possibly they can send you the bezel. I am guessing those LEDs are mounted on a small circuit board and bezel. Not having one here up close and personal it is hard for me to guess. Anyway, Dell may be able to send you a replacement sub assembly.

Something you can try if you havent tried already is get access to the board with the LEDs mounted to it Look at the actual mounting of the failed LED and try moving it gently. The problem may be a cold solder joint on the mounting and not actually a failed (bad) LED.

Getting a direct replacement won't be easy short of help from Dell.

Mostly guessing in there on my part.

Ron
