Do you think if I used this as a fan grill would it greatly reduce my airflow?

I don't think it would reduce it significantly. It would some but not a lot.

I think it will reduce your airflow. I dont think the holes are big enough

The holes may be small, but there's a LOT of them.

It's the same thing that CM uses on the rear of their stacker. It's about as restrictive as a screen door.

I've actually come to like that type of grill. I'm willing to bet that it's much less restrictive than the old open waffle type.

Yea I really like how it looks, but with painting it Im worried that the paint would cover the holes.
I know that I could just a pin to poke through them after Im done but Chumly, youre the man to ask, what could I do to just prevent this from the get-go?

Don't try to put the paint on too thick -- several thin coats, not one or 2 heavy ones. If it does happen to get a bit heavy, blow the wet paint through the holes with some compresses air -- carefully.

Do you guys think it would look better if I cut out the fan grill on the back and replaced it with one of these or would it stand out too much?

Go ahead and cut out the fan grill, and put in your screen thingy. As long as it's relatively the same color as the back of your case, I think it wouldn't stand out too much. Plus, this is the Modder's Workshop, so go ahead and mod away!

PS: send some pics when your done

Yea also I was wondering whats the best way to get the chassis off of the plastic part of my case?
I know Chumly said using a soldering iron to melt the pins but how easy are they to get back on?
Im a total newb to modding so thats why I ask many questions.

If they have been melted on, the solder gun will work to get them of (or a dremel with a cut wheel - but you will likely have to comeup with a new way to re-attch them. Sometimes you can get a small screw in them with a washer. Sometimes some stratigically put double stick will work. Sometimes you have to drill them out and use screws to reatach (Hex/Allen heads look cool).

Depend on the application.

Yea they look like they have been melted on, like a gloop of metal.
Cause I want to paint the inside of the case too so was just wondering.

Grumps right - I don't know exatly what you are talking about.

I need to be clear here. Is what looks like its been melted made of plasitc or metal? If its plastic - then what I said above should be OK as long as its on the inside of the case. Too bad you can't get a a pic of your own.

Hey filmbot! I have that same exact case (And I highly recommend the Aspire X-Dreamer II)! I have a question, when you say "whats the best way to get the chassis off of the plastic part of my case" are you talking about the acrylic (clear plastic) on the front of the case? Because if you are, I believe those are attached by the 6 LED acrylic pins. You shouldn't have to remove that if you're looking to put the fan grill on the back of the case.

[Tangent]
On the other hand, I guess you could replace the front fan "grill" (which is nothing more than some holes drilled into the acrylic front spaced like 1/2" apart. That would be an interesting mod, to cut off oh lets say 1/3 of the acrylic front (the holes part) and replace it with some type of chromed metal or fan grill! Wow! Maybe I should try that...
[/Tangent]

So anyways, your clarification would be appreciated by all of us!
