The process has begun. I purchased a Blue CompUSA Tower case, which can be seen here. CompUSA has discontinued them, as well as their Black and Silver versions. These cases are the same that ViciousPC was using a couple of years ago.

I've yanked my drive faceplates off, and these are now painted silver, and are drying outside.

I have also obtained two 12" CompUSA Blue CC Lights, and two Mad Dog 80mm Flourescent Blue Fans. I have rounded Copper and Silver IDE & Floppy cables to enhance my cooling.

Picture will go up as soon as I'm satisfied with my results. :)

Total cost (and mind you, working at CompUSA has some really good benefits) is $27.84, plus 6% NJ Sales Tax.

This is replacing my InWin Q-500Super Tower Case.

I'm excited. :P

Ultimately every project needs a purpose.

What is the purpose for this and what over all effect do you want to work for?

I like your idea of making it all blue, however, maybe mix some red and/or yellow lights or luminescent items for some color contrast.

My Sonata case has a lot of blue in it...and I'm beginning to look at it like a homo. Something is screaming out to me to install a six inch red cold cathode and a yellow six inch cold cathode...but with no window (and not going to install one) and only the Antec logo punch at the top of the side panel...it would be a waste. Pity.

I wonder if I can get a replacement side panel door that has a window pre-installed. I'm really going for contemporary elegance with this case...keep it simple.

It's the fact that for many years, my systems were inside cabinets or desks.

Now, in our new apartment, my tower sits next to the desk. The cabinet holds 6 other towers and is full. So I have a big, ugly beige box in my comuter room which is attached to the living room.

The monitor I have is Silver, with a black base. So the Silver drives will help tie them together.

I wanted to make a cool looking computer. :)

(And the fact that I can do it so inexpensively make my wife happy, too.)

So, basically, I wanted to "upgrade" the only item I haven't upgraded in eight years.

Try subtle contrasts then. Your main theme seems to be black and silver, with blue lighting. Paint the inside silver flake and the drive bays black.

I'd still add a contrasting light, say 1 12 inch or 2 six inch cold cathodes...one that responds to music or "sparkles"...for lack of a better word...that way it'll draw attention as well.

Maybe later, but for now, no.

I'm thinking about it, though.
