I was looking at psychoidiot's (or toidiohcysp  ) xbox mod (which is cool by the way) and I was intrigued by his statement that he could use his laptop screens for the project. I would like to know what is necessary to use a laptop TFT as a normal monitor. Suppose I were to get: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... eName=WDVW one of these babies. Could I then use this screen as a monitor? It would be close to the mobo if that's an issue. (all part of a grand modding scheme, this would be great motivation for me to continue the project) I needed a thin monitor solution, but most LCDs are a tad expensive. This would be great, so any insight would be very much appreciated. :D

well, the best solution is a controller for this panel. But i can't find one... It's a hitachi TX41D56VC1CAA. The reason I chose this one is because it's the perfect size, and UXGA.

Sorry to hear that... Do you know where I could find a controller for this panel? I've looked around and couldn't find one.

that is the big problem with using laptop lcd's as displays. You can't find the controllers at all. At the very elast there are some pretty expensive controller cards that work with lots of monitors but then it's just for the fact of modding and by then you can purchase an lcd and save some money.

When I was researching this very topic it became apparent to me that there is no way to match controllers with displays becuase there are so many of them, it's just cheaper and easier in the long run to buy an lcd.

If you decide to continue your search good luck and post how things are going.
